Luhr Jensen Krocodile

When it comes to trout spoons there are enough out there to confuse even the most proficient fisherman. Colors, styles, weights, action can really seperate brands but also so closely mimick each other there is hardly a difference. Luhr Jensen Krocodile spoons are still a favorite of mine and we fish 1/4 ounce to 4 oz, standard hammered Nickel to Everglow and UV! Long known to be deadly for truck trout and stocked fish in mountain lakes I am here to attest they fool even the wariest Native Trout. First off pick your size accordingly to match the baitfish in the syatem you intend to fish and bring standard Nickel and Brass colors. I always like to add some oddball colors also! Next study the action next to the boat and learn what troliing speeds or retrevial speeds produce the best action. Lighter line will intensify the action and bring more strike’s! Confidnce is key with any offering and play with different sizes and colors until you find what you like. Once your confident in your bait you will become susscessful with them.

Now lets get tricky, I often add 3D eyes and flash tape to them, paint some and also rig two in tandem in different sizes! Where legal add a minnow trailer or grub or crawler to added enticement! Don’t forget they can be downright deadly jigged vertical also making a simple spoon so versitile you always want a few in the Tackle box. Scent can also be added to the Krocs and finding the one that you like best is another review in its own.

Next time out try two colors a standard natural and try an obnoxious color and try a smaller size on the inside and larger , heavier on the outside. Good luck and hold on tight!
